Arsenal Agree To Sell Robin van Persie To Manchester United

For the second consecutive year Arsenal have sold their captain, this time to another Premier League club.

A statement on the Man Utd website read:

” Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie.

“The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course.”

Arsenal added their own statement, which read:

‘Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.’

‘Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move.’

Newspaper reports put the transfer fee at around £20m. If you are an Arsenal fan what do you think of the news? Were you expecting Arsenal to cash in on RVP instead of letting him leave for free in a year? And what do you expect Arsene Wenger to do with the money? Will be bring in another striker, or should he focus on other areas?

And if you are a Man United fan, is this the move the club needed to make to jump ahead of Man City? What does the RVP signing mean for Welbeck and Hernandez, who will not get less playing time?
