Arsenal To Name Sven Mislintat Technical Director

Arsenal are planning to promote Sven Mislintat to a new role as the club’s technical director as they continue to adjust following the departures of Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis earlier this summer.

The internal restructure at the Emirates has prompted the club to promote Raul Sanllehi to head of football while Vinai Venkatesham is now the Gunners’ managing director.

However, as Sanllehi continues to work on the football side of things at Arsenal, he is set to create a technical director role underneath him which is set to be filled by Mislintat, according to the Independent.

Mislintat joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and has already had a huge impact since his arrival.

The 46-year-old was responsible for bringing the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with him soon after his move in January 2018 before driving more big names to the club in the summer transfer window.

With his German influence, Mislintat convinced Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulus to leave the Bundesliga for the Premier League, while Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira also arrived at the club.

Mislintat’s role continues to expand at Arsenal and has been given more power when it comes to footballing decisions rather than just recruitment.

This is due to his strong relationship with Sanllehi, prompting plans to instate Mislintat to a director of football position.

In the midst of all of this, Sanllehi’s old position as head of football operations will be filled by Huss Fahmy, the former lawyer who Arsenal recruited from Team Sky to work on player contracts.
