Are Real Madrid Planning To Flip Alvaro Morata To Arsenal?

morata-juventusThere are lots of TV shows based upon the premise of flipping a house. Buying something below market value and immediately sell (or flip) it to another buyer for a profit.

That is what Real Madrid is poised to do this summer, but instead of a house, they are looking to flip striker Alvaro Morata to Arsenal for an handsome profit.

When Madrid sold Morata to Juventus for £15.7m in 2014 they included a clause in the deal stating they could re-sign the 23-year-old in July of either 2016 or 2017 for an improved fee of £23.6m.

The Spanish striker has impressed in Italy, scoring 25 goals in 86 appearances and leading the Los Blancos faithful to call for a return of the home-grown product.

But Real have no room in their starting XI for Morata, who is not interested in returning to the Santiago Bernabéu bench.

So according to the Spanish newspaper AS, Real intend on bringing back the forward so that they can immediately sell him on at a profit.

One interested club in the strikers service is Arsenal where the lack of a proven goalscorer has hampered the Gunners in the title race this season. The newspaper claims that Real want around £40m for the striker, a quick £17m profit on the flip.

As for Motata he just wants to know where he will be playing next season. He has ten goals this season, including two in the local derby against Torino last weekend, and told reporters

‘It’s difficult for me because I don’t have the certainty of knowing where I’ll be and it’s a strange situation.

‘I want the matter of the repurchase or not to be resolved. I’m happy [at Juve] but I want to know where I have to buy a house, so I want to know where I’m going to be.’

Madrid’s option runs until July 2017 so they could yet hold off for another season. And Morata added:

‘I’m happy at Juventus but I would like all of this [speculation] to be stopped.

‘Back to Madrid? It’s something that exists and it’s a real possibility because it’s a contract, there are documents. I’m looking forward to this being finished.’

Do you think that Morata would be a good signing for Arsenal? Is he a step up from Giroud? Is he worth £40m?
