Reports out of Spain say that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for between €45-50m for Mesut Özil, smashing Arsenal’s transfer record. It seems that Real Madrid accepted bids from both Arsenal and Manchester United, but the Gunners offered to pay him €2m a year more in wages!
Ozil is class, with 30 assists in La Liga in the last two seasons. He created a chance more often than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues last season (minimum 10 appearances), doing so every 22.1 minutes. In terms of clear cut chances, he was again leading the rankings with 24, also the most in Europe’s top 5 leagues last season.
Still to be seen in where Ozil fits into the Arsenal line-up, but he is a fantastic talent that is for sure. What do you think of Arsenal signing Ozil?
