Its Bilbao v Atletico In Europa League Final

Spanish duo Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid will face off in the Europa League final slated for May 9th after defeating Sporting Lisbon and Valencia respectively in last night’s semi finals.

Bilbao were 4-3 winners over Sporting while Atletico had a 5-2 aggregate win over Valencia. At the San Mames stadium, fans were treated to a very entertaining fixture between two sides that did not fail to entertain.

The game seemed to be heading for extra time until Fernando Llorente struck in the 88th minute to make it 3-1 on the night (4-3 on aggregate) and break the hearts of the traveling fans.

Bilbao Continue to Roar in Europa League

Athletic Bilbao’s poor form didn’t continue in Europe as they managed to pick up a massive 4-2 victory over Bundesliga representative, Schalke 04 on Thursday, in a very intense match from the kick off until final whistle.

Fernando Llorente was once again the important actor for Bilbao with his brace, while wonder kid Iker Muniain along with Oscar de Marcos added the goals for the Basque based outfit to cancel two Raul Gonzales’ strikes.

Malaga move themselves back into fourth place after picking up an important 2-1 win over home team ,Espanyol, on Sunday, with goals from Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Martin Dimichelis.

It wasn’t an easy ride though for Manuel Pellegrini’s side as they were forced to make a comeback after trailing a goal down in the first half from Philippe Coutinho.

Three Spaniards Advanced in Europa League

All three Spanish teams, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Athletic Bilbao successfully go through the next round of Europa League after beating their opponents in the second leg on Thursday.

Atletico added their advantage over Lazio with a 1-0 victory, El Che also doubled their aggregate against Stoke City courtesy of Jonas’ strike, while Bilbao earned an important 1-0 victory thanks to Iker Muniain’s strike.

La Liga Week Three Preview

The city of Seville takes centre-stage for the third week of La Liga action as local rivals Real Betis and Sevilla clash at the Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera. Sevilla did the double over their neighbours last season, winning 3-0 at home and 2-0 away, but Betis have splashed out big money this summer and will be desperate to put one over their old enemies.

To do that though, Betis will need to improve on a disappointing run of results that has left them without a win since mid-April and with just one point from their opening two games against Recreativo Huelva and Getafe this season.
