Lampard Backs Chelsea Kids

FRank Lampard Chelsea

Frank Lampard has launched a staunch defence of his Chelsea youth policy ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final against Liverpool.

The Blues boss has already shown he is not afraid of giving the club’s academy talent a chance to shine – selecting Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham in his starting XI that lost 4-0 to Manchester United on Sunday.

The manner of the defeat has raised questions over Lampard’s willingness to give Chelsea’s youngsters further opportunities – but the Chelsea legend insists the likes of Mount and Abraham deserve their chance.

Stamford Bridge Chelsea

Chelsea’s formal appeal against FIFA’s transfer ban has been received and acknowledged by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) but there has been no bid yet to have the punishment suspended until the legal process is complete.

The London club is fighting a punishment imposed by world football’s governing body after being found guilty of offences in signing overseas players under the age of 16.

FIFA fined Chelsea £475,000 in February and issued a ban on registering any new players for the next two transfer windows.

Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri has received plenty of criticism this season but the numbers make it hard to argue that this has been anything other than a solid campaign for the Chelsea manager.

Wednesday’s Europa League victory over Arsenal has lifted the doom and gloom around Stamford Bridge and fans have begun to take a more positive look at the Italian’s first season as a whole.

Sarri completed his objectives, not only winning the club’s fifth European fifth trophy but also securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

In fact, in terms of wins, only one Chelsea manager has ever managed more in his first season at the club.

Sarri Denies Interest In Italy Return

Maurizio Sarri has dismissed a return to Italy this summer after leading Chelsea to the Europa League final with a penalty shootout win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eden Hazard stroked home the deciding spot kick after 90 minutes and extra time could not separate the two sides at 2-2 on aggregate.

Despite persistent criticism from his own fans the Italian has now taken Chelsea to two major finals in his first season and already secured qualification for the Champions League next year.

And he indicated after the dramatic events at Stamford Bridge that he has no intention of leaving the club.

Chelsea Transfer Ban Upheld

Stamford Bridge Chelsea

Real Madrid are resigned to having to meet Chelsea’s £100m asking price for Eden Hazard after FIFA upheld the Premier League club’s transfer ban.

They also accept that the saga will now run into the summer with Chelsea waiting to find out if the Court of Arbitration for Sport will give them a period of grace to sign players this summer while they review the case.

Madrid made Hazard their top target as soon as Zinedine Zidane returned to the club. They hoped that they could use the fact that he was in his last year of contract to bring the price down.

Will Hazard Force Move To Real Madrid?

According to media reports, Eden Hazard is ready to hand in a transfer request in order to force a move to Real Madrid.

The Chelsea talisman is understood to be frustrated that there has not been any significant progress in his potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Marina Granovskaia, director of the Stamford Bridge club, remains hopeful of keeping the Belgian international and is asking for £98million according to AS.

Hazard’s contract expires in 2020 so if a deal is not reached in the upcoming transfer window he could leave for free the following summer.

Sarri Guides Chelsea Back Into The Champions League

He has been much maligned for most of the season, but Maurizio Sarri has been able to do something that Unai Emery and Jose Mourino/Ole Gunnar Solskjær were unable to do, and that is guide their club to a top four finish this season.

A combination of Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Watford on Sunday afternoon and the failure of both Manchester United and Arsenal to win their Sunday afternoon fixtures means Sarri’s men are guaranteed to finish in the top four of the Premier League and therefore play in the Champions League next season.

Chelsea Want Coutinho To Replace Hazard

Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho as they plan for life without Eden Hazard.

Chelsea want around £100million for Hazard and have already begun looking at potential replacements for the former Lille star.

According to Telefoot, Coutinho is at the top of the Blues’ wishlist as they attempt to replace Hazard’s goals and assists.

The Brazilian has endured a difficult season at the Nou Camp after making a £146m move from Liverpool in January of last year.
