David Villa wins the award for best X-mas this La Liga season because he is looking to have a very bright future no matter where that might be. I talk about it a lot and I think it is one of the most important La Liga stories that will unfold over the next few transfer windows, but is Valencia going to go the route of a fire sale or will the top four squad find a way to maintain their current roster and competitive level?
Obviously you never want to see a great team break up, but if Valencia is desperate for cash, selling Villa this January could easily lessen the debt-ridden teams amount by a single move. Villa is in his prime and his value has never been as high as it is right now. He leads the league in goals scored with 12 meaning that he is one of the best goal scorers in the entire world. Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Benzema, Messi, and Henry all trail Villa currently.
Plus the suitors are all beginning to lineup for Villa. Manchester United has shown interest several times over the last six months. Arsenal needs a striker to lead the attack up front. And of course Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City will never be done adding talented strikers to the mix.
With plenty of premier places to play January looks like a win-win situation for Villa. Wherever Villa ends up he will likely be the featured striker especially if he somehow stays with Valencia for the rest of the season.
