When Will We See the Callejón Brothers?

The stars of Real Madrid Castilla’s 2007-2008 campaign midfielder Juanmi Callejón and forward José Callejón combined for 30 goals last season in Segunda División B.  Real Madrid’s reserve squad finished fifth in the table in ’07-’08.

Blocked by the wealth of talent at the Santiago Bernabéu, the twin brothers moved to two other La Liga clubs.  Juanmi Callejón signed a four-year contract with RCD Mallorca this summer while his brother José signed RCD Espanyol.  José made his debut for Spain’s U-21 squad last March against Kazakhstan.  He replaced Barcelona starlet Bojan Krkić and scored a goal in Spain’s 5-0 triumph.

It is only a matter of time before the 21-year-old players make their mark in La Liga.

Now that the Callejón Brothers have moved on, here is a look at who remains on Real Madrid Castilla’s sqaud.

Bueno– the second striker/attacking midfielder scored four goals last season for RM Castilla.  He has been at the club since 2006.  Internationally, he was a member of Spain’s 2006 UEFA European U-19 Championship squad.

Daniel Opare– the Ghanaian right back was regarded as one of the best defenders at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.  Media outlets reported that he was courted by the likes of Liverpool, AC Milan, and Schalke 04 before deciding on Real Madrid.

Adam Szalai– The 20-year-old Hungarian attacking player scored 4 goals last season for RM Castilla.  He arrived at Real Madrid via VfB Stuttgart’s youth setup.
