Another disappointing result for Milan today against Atalanta will definitely leave them out of the race for the scudetto. I think this is the worst start to a new season for Milan in a very long time. Wednesday’s 1-0 home loss to FC Zurich in the Champions league angered Milan fans with many calling on club owner and Italian premier to sell the club.
I have to admit though that Hannu Tihinen’s back heel flick was a brilliant masterpiece. It left the Milan defense confused adn surprised. Towards the end of the game, their was a sense of urgency in Milan’s approach with both Zambrotta and Ronaldinho almost scoring but it just was not going to be their day.
Today’s fixture therefore should be a walk in the park for the rossoneri. Atalanta are second last with only two points from six games while Milan are in twelfth position. A sign of relief in this troubled times should be Pato’s new five year deal.
This amazing youngster has only showed flashes of his brilliance since arriving in Milan from Internacionale and he is yet to explod in Italy. Elsewhere in the Serie a, Inter survived by the skin of their teeth to snatch a 2-1 win against Udinese. Wesley sneijder strike in the dying minutes of the game was enough to secure all the three points.
Meanwhile Juventus will look to keep Inter in their sights when they travel to Palermo later on Sunday. Juve’s on-form striker Iaquinta will ensure his side bag all the three points in the absence of Del Piero who is out for six weeks with an injury.
