Although Barcelona did look strong in their 2-0 win against Zaragoza on Saturday, Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta know that the club needs to continue with this showing if they are looking to finish 1st in the league.
“Zaragoza [is] a strong and aggressive team, and to win was important. We must continue in this same way.” Messi went on to say following the match.
Despite the fact that David Villa has not been netting as much goals as expected, Messi still feels confident in the Spanish striker, “He [David Villa] is calm, and knows that the goals will come.”
As for Spanish midfielder, Andres Iniesta, he is happy with the tactics of head-coach Guardiola as he feels that the changing of the line-up is critical for the teach can reach “[Their] maximum performance.”
“The important thing is to have alternatives and also that is suits the team. It gets difficult, because there are many factors, but the team works hard to ensure that we produce the best game possible, and give our maximum performance.”
It was an important win for Barcelona as they still trail to rivals Real Madrid, who enjoyed a 6-1 over the weekend. Although David Villa may not be scoring as many goals as fans would expect of him, the Spaniard is still a threat on the field and causes chaos for the opposing team.
