Vote For The FIFA Goal Of The Year 2011

You can now vote for the FIFA Puskás Award for the best goal of the year. The voting begun on Thursday the 18th November and will run until 5th December 2011 when the three most voted for goals will be made public.

The award was named in honour of the legendary Rela Madrid forward Ferenc Puskas who scored 84 goals for his country in 85 appearances and an amazing 514 in 529 appearances through out his club career.

So just who made it to the list? A couple of notable players to feature on the list include Barcelona star Lionel Messi, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, AC Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Brazilian starlet Neymar.

The only woman to feature on the list is American Heather O’Reilly who is on the list by virtue of her amazing performances for her country during the Women’s World Cup in Germany mid this year.

You can vote from both the FIFA.com site or the francefootball.fr site. Users of the 2 sites will be able to vote again until January 9th when the winner will be revealed.

So start voting if you hadn’t and let  the award be presented to a worthy recipient. Let’s not complain with the choices made. That said, other awards worth keeping an eye on include: the FIFA/FiFPro World XI players, The Presidential award and the Fair Play award.
