US MNT Mission 2010: Agent Kljestan

Briefing: Agent Sacha Kljestan (aka “Special K”) is a Californian with a silky smooth style of play. Though he is still exceptionally young, he has already made a splash with the MNT and all signs indicate he will be one of the agency’s top players during Mission 2010. Though he still plays in the US professionally, he will be abroad soon, no doubt.

Special Skills: Agent Kljestan has plenty of vision and a nice pace on the ball. He makes many passes other players wouldn’t dare dream of pulling off, and he can also blast the ball towards the net from distance. Sometimes, he does try too hard and makes mental mistakes, but as his experience grows, he will likely stop making such errors.

International Actions: Agent Kljestan hasn’t had a ton of opportunities with the first team yet. He played well during a 2008 mission in China, but he couldn’t get the young MNT to the second round. In January, he had a hat trick against the Swedes, and he played decently against MEX in February. His role is expanding, as is his confidence.

Mission: Agent Kljestan’s mission, should he decide to accept it, is to act as a major link between the back line and the attack. He will be expected to give and go and put the ball in the back of the net, and he must improve his defensive skills to help thwart the enemy’s incessant attack. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.
