To be honest, some transfer rumours should remain just that, rumours! The latest reports doing the rounds suggest that Juventus players David Trezeguet and Mauro Camoranesi are destined for fashion capital Milan to join the Rossoneri.
Now, before your heart falls to your stomach, ( i.e. if you are a Milan or Juve fan) let me clarify and say that the probability of this happening is zero, zilch!. Not only is this absurd, but it is also very unrealistic. Although weird transfers have happened in the past, this will not be one of them.
Why am i so confident you ask? Simple because Milan is in a Transition period (yes with a capital T). Milan is not only a European giant, it is also the most successful club in the world in terms of international trophies wonand that is a fact!
So with the age of the current squad averaging at 30, President and owner Silvio Berlusconi is starting to see the light. I still remember this one season when Milan’s regular defense had players as old as 36 and even 40. Remember Costacurta, Cafu and Maldini? Yeah they were pretty old but ironically, they were also very effective.
After missing out on direct Champions League qualification by just a few whiskers and watching their 2009/2010 Serie A campaign crumble because of over reliance and unfitness of some of its players, Berlusconi will definitely want to evade the wrath of the Milan faithful by bowing to their demands.
Ever since they won their last trophy 3 years ago, Milan have failed to provide any real threat to the likes arch rivals Inter Milan and European clubs Barcelona and Manchester United.
With all due respect, Trezeguet and Camoranesi are players who are past their prime. Joining Milan would not only be a disaster for the club, but it won’t help their careers any bit.
After signing former Catania coach Allegri, Milan are hoping that they can lure either Dzeko or Fabiano to the San Siro to bolster their attack. Both are great choices however, i would opt for Dzeko since he is way younger than Fabiano.
That said, in the world of football, coaches and the technical staff are known to make the silliest mistakes.
