Toronto FC is giving away free tickets. The mediocre club that has only been around for four seasons is having a free ticket night promotion that will be the debut home match next season to win back the fans of the soccer club. Recently a silent protest was enacted due to news that the team’s officials announced planning to raise season ticket prices next season.
Toronto FC has yet to make a postseason in four years of professional play and the club’s loyal fan base became irritated that the ticket prices were continuing to go up each season. The crowd refused to cheer cheer during a match with Columbus that resulted in a 2-2 draw. The fans silent protest of the decision must have worked because the organization is now offering a free opening night match of the season to any potential season ticket holders. Also the club has arranged that any previous season ticket holders will be able to pay the same amount that they already do this season, so just new season ticket holders will have to pay the extra fee next year.
Toronto FC officials sent the following apology e-mail out to their fans regarding their new found approach to supporting the fan base:
The meetings were crucial to helping us understand your concerns. Toronto FC fans are unique — you love your club, you feel a part of the club, but your club has let you down on and off the pitch.
The club also has recently released the following statement claiming to be “excited” for next season and are “working hard to assemble a management team that is second to none in Major League Soccer.”
