The battle for third place never seems to stop heating up as another thrilling spectacle happened at Olympico Roma, when As Roma host Napoli, which say four quality goals sparkling the evening in the capital.
Fabio Simplicio could be considered as the home team’s savior as his late goal simply ruined the Partenopei’s celebration as both teams must settle for a draw, which is actually a pretty fair result looking at the performances being shone.
Coming into the game from two straight defeats made things really difficult for Roma players, especially at the beginning where they can’t seem to get their passing right, just like want commonly happened recently. Meanwhile, Napoli were looking really hungry for victory as they were pressing really hard in the early few minutes, didn’t gave much time for the home team players to execute their normal possession play.
However just as when Francesoc Totti managed to get himself more into the match, things got much easier as they create more goal scoring chances while controlling much of the possession. Fernando Gago shoud have put Luis Enrique’s team on the lead but he amazingly placed his shot wide from just inches away from Morgan De Sanctis’ goal.
After several chances, Marquinho eventually gave the home side a pretty deserved lead in that first half which were dominated by Enrique’s boys. Things turned around after the re-start as it was Napoli’s turn to get dominant as they’re chasing the game and also important points which will help their course in finishing third at the end of this current campaign. It didn’t take long for the Partenopei to equalize as after only few minutes, Juan Zuniga leveled the score through a cracking shot from outside of the penalty area.
The goal lifted Napoli’s confidence even more as they continue to cause havoc at Roma’s defense before Edinson Cavani completely turned things around for the visitor with another lovely goal from just outside of the area. Leading 2-1, the Partenopei decided to sit back a little bit, which unfortunately outdid them in the end as Enrique’s team eventually tied the encounter after Simplicio finding the net three minutes before the final 90.
