Juventus have been known for their strong Italian core for quite some time, and now even under a new coach and technical director the Old Lady still eager to keep that habit as after acquiring the likes of Simone Pepe and Marco Storari, reports claim that the Bianconeri is close in signing Leonardo Bonucci. The young Bari player, who has just had a wonderful season in seria A, leading him in getting a place in the Italian national team at the World Cup, has attracted many big clubs and Juve seems to be the one that will get his signature.
The Bianconeri had the upper hand compared to the likes of Ac Milan and Inter due to the unique contract situation that they have with Bonucci’s contract holders, Genoa and Bari. Reports claimed that Juve managed to struck a deal that benefits all the of the clubs as they released Domenico Criscito to Genoa plus renewing Rafaelle Palladino’s co-ownership agreement, which allowed Genoa to sell half of the former Inter primavera player’s contract to Bari making the Old Lady finally able to make an offer to Bari, giving them cash and Sergio Almiron for the highly rated young defender.
That deal is indeed a very unique one as it pretty much only happens in Serie A as the league does have complicated co-ownership deals that usually needs three ways discussion in order to seal an agreement. Despite the complication of the deal, surely it’s pretty much benefited all the clubs as they will get what they wanted and no parties will be feeling harmed by the three ways agreement.
As for Juve, getting Bonucci doesn’t only mean that they keep their traditional Italian core going, but the young player would pretty much being set as Fabio Cannavao’s replacement who will be leaving the club to finish up his career at Al Ahly in Dubai. Acquiring the young defender will be a good deal for the Bianconeri as he is being considered as one of the bright future for the Azzurri. Not only that, personally I am also looking forward in seeing how will the 24-years-old pairs up with Chiellini if the deal does eventually happen, a combination that might as well be Italy’s future duet at the back.
