Thiago Silva’s Responsibility

El Milán en Champions LeagueThiago Silva has emerged as one of the best center back not only in Serie A but also Europe as the defender keeps on improving his quality playing alongside the veteran Alessandro Nesta, making Ac Milan defense looking very solid this season.

Among all of the thing that pushed his career, Silva stated that the responsibility his been having as the replacement for Milan’s legend, Paolo Maldini, becomes a vital part in his current progress.

The defender believes that this season is an important phase of his career as the acknowledgment towards his defensive capabilities starts to emerge especially with Milan’s current fine performance, leading the Serie A table and advancing in the Italian Cup as well. Silva hopes that this season could be the start for him in answering his responsibility as Maldini’s heir, as the Brazilian international simply wish that in the end of his career he could have at least half of the Italian legend’s success.

“I’m in a decisive spell of my career,I feel the responsibility of being a successor to a phenomenon like Paolo Maldini. At the end of my career, I just hope to have won half of what he did during his splendid sporting life,” Silva said.

Last season, Silva’s arrival at the Milan’s defense first team line up already encouraged lots of Rossoneri fans in believing that they have finally discovered the perfect replacement for Maldini that could partner Nesta in the heart of the team’s defense. However, the Red and Black squad’s inconsistent performances last season, hasn’t managed to lift the Brazilian’s name in getting the recognition he should have considering his enormous potential.

However, this season especially since the start of the year, the Brazilian international has finally discovered by many pundits as one of the best center backs out there, simply because his consistent performance in leading Milan’s back line. His duet with Nesta is being touted as the best pairing in Serie A as the Rossoneri have won plenty matches because the tight defense that they have, which can also be seen from the club’s statistic of having the lowest goal conceded in the league.
