What teams have experienced the most disappointing start to the season in La Liga? Let’s take a look:
Deportivo La Coruna: Only two teams in the entire league have zero wins and Deportivo happens to be one of them. In fact no team in the league has a worse goal differential then last year’s 10th place club and currently Deportivo has only scored 3 goals in 8 matches and that is 19 less then Real Madrid. With only 4 points earned in 8 attempts, Deportivo is on pace to only earn 19 points this season.
Real Zaragoza: Deportivo has been terrible and last year’s new boys of Zaragoza aren’t any better. In fact Zaragoza is the only team worse on the league table in 2oth place and also have yet to win a single match this season. They finished 14th place last year as new boys, but this year Zaragoza looks to be a relegated team with little offensive production (6 goals in 8 games) and a terrible defense (16 goals given up).
Atletico Madrid: They are right in the same position that they were last season (8th place), but I thought Atletico would have a real shot at the top four following Diego Forlan’sbrilliant World Cup run with Uruguay. So far injuries and inconsistency have plagued their chances of a great year and Forlan is beginning to dream up a move to Manchester United next transfer window.
Sevilla: Not a nightmare start by any means, but Sevilla is another team that I expected to seal a top four start this year and have yet to prove worthy of the cause. Currently in 6th place they don’t have far to go, but their typical top defense has already given up a fairly high total of 11 goals in 8 matches and Luis Fabiano has yet to really settle into the starting eleven despite signing a new deal that keep him with the club until 2013.
