Some good news for City fans as their striker Carlos Tevez is set to star for City in a reserve League Cup tie against Preston on Tuesday. According to a spokesman for the club, Tevez who only resumed training with the first team last Thursday, is expected to make a relatively ‘gentle competitive’ appearance in Tuesday’s match.
If everything goes according to plan, then Tevez could feature in City’s Premier League fixture against Swansea this weekend. Of course, Carlitos return to action is expected to give Mancini a headache in his selection. City have been doing very well these past 4 months and it will be interesting to see how they cope once Tevez is included in the squad.
That said, Tevez’s strike partners Dzeko and Aguero have maintained that their will be no added pressure on them with Tevez return.
“It’s not pressure, it’s just that he can bring quality to the team,”
“We are all one team trying to play together and it’s good that we scored three because in the end goal difference could be the key.” Dzeko said after Saturday’s victory.
On the added competition to the squad, this is what he had to say:
“That is normal but it’s good you have so many quality players around you, and that they are all getting better,”
Aguero on his part had this to say:
“I prefer things with him in the squad because he is a very important player for us,” Aguero said.
“I spoke a few times with him while he was absent. He is a super professional and it was up to him to decide about his future.
“I am happy he is back. I think his return could be important for us in the decisive period of this season. He has been one of the best forwards in world football over the last few years. City need all the players we have to try and win titles. It’s difficult because in the Premier League opponents do not concede ground easily.”
City currently lead the Premier League table on 63 points two ahead of city rivals United.
