Things keeps on getting harder for Fiorentina as another defeat that they suffered against Sampdoria last Sunday brings them down to the bottom place in the Serie A table, a position that no one would really expect for the Viola.
The confusion and despair are not only felt by the fans but also some of the players, who according to their coach, Sinijsa Mihaljovic, left the field in tears after the defeat at Luigi Ferarris, something that can be understand considering the fact that they concede two late goals in the space of 30 seconds.
“If you concede two goals in 30 seconds then obviously it hits you hard. There were a few players in tears at the end, but it’s understandable when you lose a game like this. This evening we’ll think about this match, then tomorrow we can put it all behind us and begin again,” Mihaljovic said.
Surely it’s a difficult situation that Fiorentina are currently having as they are working hard in getting the positive results but there just lots of problems especially players absentees that keep haunting them this season. However, with the quality that the team possessed, Mihaljovic is still confident that his team can finally work their way out of their current slump and reaching their full potential of challenging at the top end of the table.
“We are well aware that we’re bottom of the table and nobody expected to be here,” Mihaljovic stated. “We are here and have to get out of this situation with our own strength and eventually the wheel will turn in our favour.”
Mihaljovic does has a point as the Viola are actually a team that have tons of potential to at least mount a challenge for the Champions League place this season. However, a run of bad luck seems to struck them lately with plenty of important players keeps getting injured or suspended making things difficult for the club as they are unable to field their best eleven in every games.
The key absences for the Viola this season are the likes of Stevan Jovetic, Adrian Mutu and also new signing Gaetano D’agostino who are all still sidelined due to injuries and suspension. Those three especially the two previous names are the players that can provide the technical and mental boost that have been lacking from Fiorentina’s performances lately. The team still have other talents but there just that special players that can provide that special spark in time of need, that is the kind of stuffs that the likes of Llajic, Gilardino, and even Montolivo still fails to provide.
Although the competition is still long but if Fiorentina can’t re-shape themselves as soon as possible things might just be too late in the end especially if the players have lost their confident in the club’s future. The stage is set for Mihaljovic in proving his capacity as a tactician as everything will pretty much down on how he could manage his boys and give proper morale boost so they can finally hit the ground running away from the bottom of the table.
