Serie A Match Of The Week AS Roma v Inter Milan

The match of the week takes place tomorrow when Inter Milan face AS Roma at the Olimpico Stadium in Rome. A couple of months back and this fixture would have been evenly balanced. However, there is no denying that the Nerazzurri are firm favourites to win this match.

AS Roma are down to the relegation end of the table and a loss tomorrow will once again get the bells ringing for coach Ranieri who only received a vote of confidence from the club directors yesterday.

Serie A top scorer Samuel Eto’o is oozing confidence ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“Roma – Inter? It’s a race I really like to play in against a strong team,” he explained to Inter Channel during an interview.

It definitely will be a race if history is anything to go by. In their last 10 meetings dating back to 2005, both Roma and Inter have each won 3 times and drawn 4 times.

The Giallorosso beat Inter at the same venue 2-1 on March 27th and Ranieri will be hoping his boys can repeat that feat when they face the champions.  Benitez however has problems of his own with Walter Samuel and Thiago Motta expected to miss the match.

Walter Samuel picked up a leg injury in Inter’s 4-0 demolition of Bari over the weekend and is a doubt for tomorrow’s match. Inter ‘s official website does however claim that the injury is not too serious.

Motta on the other hand missed training yesterday and remains a doubt for the clash tomorrow. For Roma coach Ranieri, it will be a tough choice for him to make as looks to end the Giallorosso’s bad start to the season with a victory in front of the fans and his employers.

Brazil Adriano is still recuperating from a pre season training injury he sustained and might not feature for the side. Marco Boriello is however available and the former Milan striker will be looking to get all 3 points on offer for his side.
