Although Sergio Aguero is happy at Atletico Madrid and wishes to stay, the Spanish club has gone on to say that “[They] still have long ways to go before they can secure his signature.”
“We’ve signed nothing and we still have time to talk about the renewal of Aguero. The day we have something official, we will let you know.” Said Atletico president, Enrique Cerezo.
There have been rumors that Aguero penned a new deal with Atletico Madrid till 2015. However, the claims were false after Cerezo confirmed that no deal has been met yet.
With the Spanish club looking for a fee of around £50million, Madrid might hold off on signing the young 22 year-old. Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti and Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson were two clubs that are looking at possibly signing. However, with a price tag of this caliber, I don’t see either club dishing out the money.
Aguero’s agent, Jose Segui, already confirmed the interest of other club’s as well but has also said that the Argentinian “Wishes to stay at the Vicente Calderon and is happy in Madrid and in Spain.”
Do you think that Aguero will be leaving Atletico Madrid or is the price tag to high? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
