Having just officially announced as a Lazio player, Giuseppe Sculli will apparently get the chance to make his debut as soon as possible after the Biancocelesti coach, Edy Reja, revealed that Sculli will be starting from the bench. T
he former Napoli coach said that should Sculli feels up to it than the former Genoa striker will be introduced from the bench with a chance to feature depending on the course of the game.
“Sculli has been signed by Lazio and so he could be already available for tomorrow’s derby against Roma,” Reja said. “I will speak with him after training today. If he is convinced and ready, I will put him on the bench. Of course, he won’t be a starter, but he could be useful in the course of the game.”
Considering the tension of the game, there’s a big chance that Sculli could already make his debut in the Copa game against Roma as they player doesn’t really have fitness issue because he’s still getting decent playing time with Genoa before completing his move. The player has just completed his medical and officially being unveiled as Lazio’s new player after the capital club agreed a 3,5 million Euro transfer deal that take the striker from the Marassi.
Sculli’s signing is a rather surprising deal made by Lazio as they were not actually linked with the player, however the fact that Genoa seems reluctant to cash on the former Juventus youth player and the Biancocelesti are in need for a striker the deal suddenly came through. The capital club initially had Roque Santa Cruz as their main target for this winter, but the player rejected the move after knowing the Aquilloti aren’t willing to purchase him straight away this winter and opting a loan move instead,
Sculli himself nearly moved to Inter in the summer after the Nerazzurri are keen in acquiring a striker in place of Mario Balotelli, who moved to Manchester City. However, the deal that was already around 90% suddenly broke down without any clear news aside from rumors that both parties can’t reach an agreement about the payment that is required for the deal.
After the confusion last summer, it looks like Sculli can finally breath a sight of relief as his future seems running into a clear path with this current move to capital city. Playing in a team that currently still in the running to challenge for the Scudetto, the ex-Genoa man should really feel that it’s a major step for his career especially knowing that he could actually be an important player for the Biancocelesti considering there’s not much of competition for him up front.
