I officially throw in the towel and concede that this season’s title race is between Roma and Inter. Milan have lost all sense of direction and it will be another season that they fail to collect any silverware. With rumours emerging that rookie coach Leonardo might be leaving the club at the end of the season to take up a back room position in the Brazilian national team, the Rossoneri need to start strategising for the new season.
Milan were losers yesterday to 4th place Sampdoria who despite their win still trail the Rossoneri by a wide 7 point margin. Although that loss might have crushed their title hopes, Milan are assured to finish the season in 3rd place that is unless they totally lose morale to to see off the remaining 4 games.
I guess i speak for everyone when i say a Roma – Inter battle for the title was not how i saw the season ending. Inter Milan should brace themselves for the worst. The Giallorosso have been eliminated from all competitions and their only focus is the championship. Roma are determined to win the title they last won in 2001 and they will not let anything come in their way. Inter on the other hand are still on course to win three titles: the Champions League, the Italian cup and the scudetto.
Jose Mourinho has to balance his squad and prepare them mentally and physically for tough a couple of weeks. After beating Juventus on Friday, the Nerazzurri face Barcelona in the semi-finals of Champions League tomorrow. Lightning does not strike the same spot twice is a common saying and you can be sure that Inter will avenge their group stage loss starting tomorrow.
I have said it before and i won’t hesitate to say it again, my money is on Inter winning the Champions League. This is their season. As for the league, its Roma’s to lose.
