Now that football is finally back in Serie A, look for a review of last weekend’s matches here on SATO every Tuesday morning.
And the first week of Serie A soccer would prove that some offenses still need a bit more time to gel being that the season just began. And on the first day of football in the first match Bologna would tie Fiorentina in a 1-1 battle. The second game of the season had AC Milan traveling to Siena. Milan was able to put it all together and win 2-1 thanks to two Pato goals and an excellent assist from Ronaldinho. If the midfielder can continue to feed the ball like that to the young forward then the sky is the limit for Milan this season.
Livorno and Cagliari played in a defensive minded draw 0-0, Palermo edged out Napoli 2-1, and Udinese tied Parma 2-2 on Sunday. As Roma tasted early defeat on the road to Genoa in a shootout 3-2. Lazio edged out Atalanta 2-1 at home and Juventus was able to shutout Chievo Verona 1-0 despite trouble putting the ball into the net. Sampdoria put up two goals in a road win over Catania 2-1. Cassano who scored twice in the Coppa Italia a week ago would assist the game winner in this one.
The most disappointing team though the first week of the season was surprisingly Inter. The championship winning club fell on their face in the opening week. Playing a supposedly below average club in Bari you would think that Inter would explode onto the scene with four or five goals. Apparently the new found forwards will need some time to adapt to the new squad because Inter left the match with a tie 1-1.
