SATO Serie A Tuesday Review

The fourth week of matches is in the book and one more undefeated squad was knocked off the list this week as Genoa couldn’t handle the disadvantage of playing on the road against Chievo Verona.  CV finally had some offensive output beating the top squad 3-1.  The only perfect squads left after four weeks are Juventus who easily handled new boys Livorno 2-0 at home and Sampdoria who defeated Siena 4-1 at home as well.   Sampdoria’s offense has been the most consistent in Serie A.  Could someone please explain why Cassano will likely be left off of the Italian squad this summer?

In other matches Napoli was able to stop that Udinese-Di Natale attack in a 0-0 draw.  Cagliari surprised many by staying in the match with Inter, but new boy Diego Milito would score twice for the 2-1 victory.  Catania also battled a strong away opponent in Lazio, but prevailed to a 1-1 tie against the strong squad.  Milan had problems putting a lot of offense together but managed a 1-0 home victory over a club that really has had problems finding offense, Bologna.

Some new clubs also achieved victories this week.  Bari flashed some serious offensive output at home against struggling Atalanta.  The new boys won 4-1 over the relegation zone squad.  Parma also beat a strong opponent in Palermo in a 1-0 home win as well.

And in the SATO Match of the Week, AS Roma faced off with Fiorentina.  Roma, who has struggled so far this year, was able to string together their second straight win with a 3-1 victory over Fiorentina.  Francesco Totti would score multiple goals in this one and Roma seems to have settled down after their troublesome start to the year.
