SATO Serie A Tuesday Review

Another week of Serie A action is in the books so lets take a look at the winners and losers of last weekend:

Juventus, despite all the injuries, was able to achieve a draw in a tough match against Fiorentina.  Both clubs will be happy to come away with a point against a potential top five squad.  Genoa on the other hand would have no such luck against Inter.  Inter embarrassed the squad by scoring five goals and scoring three in the first half before Genoa was a man down.  Inter is and always will be the team to beat in Serie A.

Catania edged out Cagliari in the battle of teams that names starts with a C.  The final in that one was 2-1.  And speaking of alliteration how about that win for Chievo Verona against Bari 2-1.  Neither of those clubs is that bad.  Napoli was also able to hold off Bologna 2-1.  Bologna just hasn’t found enough offense this season.  The same is the case for Siena as well.  They were shutout by Parma 1-0.

Sampdoria and Lazio battled it out last weekend as well.  That competition ended in a draw 1-1 and both clubs remain in the thick of things all though Sampdoria is much higher up the league table.  Upset of the week had to be Atalanta over Udinese.  Not only did Atlanta win, but they won by multiple goals which is a true rarity in this day and age.  New boys Livorno would have no such luck against Palermo.  Palermo would win 2-1.  And in the final match of the week reeling AC Milan hosted red hot AS Roma.  AC Milan would win 2-1 and it was the perfect result for Leonardo’s crew.
