Daniele Mannini
Mannini is off to a great start this year in what will likely be his breakout year for Sampdoria. Originally a member of Serie A squad Napoli, Mannini made the move over to Sampdoria this season and neither he or the club has looked back since his arrival. Mannini has five goals so far this season in eight matches and with three assists, Mannini is averaging about a goal a game personally. Playing midfield Mannini had never had more then a goal in an entire season for Napoli, but last weekend the midfielder would score two goals in the first half of a 4-1 route of Bologna. And all four goals were scored in the first half of play as well. Not a bad start to the match or the year for Mannini.
Alessandro Nesta
Playing defense usually means that you do not have many opportunities to score, but that wasn’t the case for Nesta last weekend as his Milan squad faced off against Chievo Verona. You can count Nesta’s career goals on one hand, but that might soon change if the aging defender continues to post performances like his one last weekend. Nesta sc0red both Milan goals and his squad won the match 2-1. And both goals came in the last ten minutes of play too.
Andrea Lazzari
Lazzari completes the first week of Top Performers in which a forward doesn’t make the list. Cagliari midfielder Lazzari found the perfect time to score last weekend though against Genoa. The midfielder put in the game winner in the 87th minute giving his squad a much needed victory.
