This Wednesday, Inter will be facing off against a strong Premier League club in Chelsea.  The two match aggregate battle will take place over the next few weeks and both clubs are currently in first place in their respected leagues.  It should be an interesting match-up and controversial manager Jose Mourinho will hope to be the difference maker for his Inter side.  But lets take a look at Chelsea for now.

THE PAST

Chelsea is a top four club nearly every season and in fact has only missed the Champions League berth one time since last millennium.  The club also were winners of the Premiership title when Mourinho was at the reigns, but the club has had a recent trophy draught that has lasted several years.  The club nearly won the 2008 UEFA final, but John Terry’s botched penalty kick took care of that dream.  The club does have one of the richest histories in all of the world though.

THE PRESENT

Chelsea is in first place in the Premier League and have been for most of the season.  The club has the best offensive tandem up front in Drogba and Anelka and one of the strongest defensive units anchored by Terry.  The Blues are one of the few left in the world with a real shot at a treble and Carlo Ancelotti just might be the right guy to get that job done.  This is a tough test for the powerhouse club, but they have to be considered one of the three best squads in all of the world right now.

THE PREDICTION

Well I have it up on the Premier League site as well, but I like Chelsea to edge out the Italian defending champs 4-3 in the two match aggregate score.  Both clubs are top of the line stuff though so anything can happen, but Drogba has been nearly unstoppable this season; whereas Eto’o has struggled to find his form this year.
