The 2007/2008 season would be one that David Trezeguet would fondly remember. The nine year vet of Juventus scored twenty goals for his club and missed out on the Golden Boot Award by a single goal to teammate Alessandro Del Piero. Going into the 2008/2009 season many thought that Trezeguet’s 150th career goal for the Serie A club would be shortly on it’s way. The forward would need just thirteen goals in order to set the mark. Unfortunately, Trezeguet’s body was unable to help achieve the career milestone this year as the forward finished the year with only one league goal in what would end up being his most frustrating year with the top tier club.
David Trezeguet’s biggest obstacle this year was injuries. The star French forward only started five matches all year and missed ten more nursing a nagging groin injury. The injury really affected the forward’s playing time and cetainly did not help the struggling Frenchman find the back of the net. Trezeguet only scored one goal in his last seventeen appearances of the year and his only multiple goal game came in a Champions League blowout during the second match of the year.
Trezeguet will look to return to form next season as Juventus looks to rebound from a mediocre year and win the Serie A title. If the key French forward can remain healthy for the 2009/2010 season, he will look to add his fourth twenty-plus goal season for the club while achieving the 150th goal of his career for Juventus. No longer on the French national squad, Trezeguet’s focus next season will be on success in his tenth Serie A season.
