Nineteen year old Alexandre Pato is winner of his first professional award during the 2008/2009 Serie A season. The teenager is considered Serie A League Bester Player Under the Age of 21. Pato, a forward with AC Milan, would enjoy having a memorable year with the squad. Pato finished the year with the second most goals on the club (15) and trailed recent transfer and Brazilian captain Kaka by a single goal. The young player was a critical component to his club’s success this season.
Pato not only scored so many goals that he was ranked in the top ten for the year, but he also passed the ball well aiding the club with 5 assists. Pato has been a very impressive player so far in his early career and has gradually improved each season. This year Pato scored six more goals then the previous year for Milan, but he did have the opportunity to start in twice as many games as the previous year. All together the Brazilian forward has 24 goals in two seasons.
Pato hopes to make the Brazilian international squad in time for the 2010 World Cup. Pato was an active member of the squad during their recent Confederations Cup victory, but the young player only saw limited action and did not score in his brief time on the pitch. Pato will be up against some of the stiffest competition in the world just to make the roster, but the key young Brazilian will look to follow in the footsteps of legendary Brazilian players: Ronaldo, Adriano, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and of course the greatest of them all, Pele.
