Ronaldinho Makes Emotional Return To The Nou Camp

What better way for the La Liga and the Serie A leagues to begin than with a friendly match between FC Barcelona and AC Milan. Nou Camp will be the scene of action on Wednesday night as these two heavyweights take to the pitch for a friendly match that will see one of Barcelona’s most players make an emotional return to the stadium he called home for 5 years.

Ronaldinho will for the first time in two years return to the Nou Camp as pat of the Milan squad that will play the Catalans for the Joan Gamper trophy. Ronaldinho also acknowledged that his Barca’s days were the best of his career. Despite leaving the club on less than perfect terms, the 30 year old still remains an idol in Catalunya and the world over.

Dinho apparently issued a letter to the club’s fans expressing gratitude for his time in Spain.

“As you all know, I don’t have the habit of talking much and I do not like goodbyes, but I want to take this opportunity to thank all that were with me over the five seasons I was defending the jersey of Barcelona. These were probably the best years of my professional and personal life.

“I sincerely believe that we really enjoyed the time we had together, I prefer to think that this will be a reunion between friends, and the rediscovery of an old friendship and old relationship. Being back at the Camp Nou is special for me. I offer a sincere hug to Barcelona and in particular one to [president] Sandro Rosell.”

In honour of his service, Barcelona will show a video of Ronaldinho’s finest moments during his 5 year stay. AC Milan kick-off their Serie A campaign against Lecce on the 29th at the San Siro. After a stellar season last year, a lot is expected from Dinho.

Barcelona on the other hand open their La Liga campaign against Racing Santander on the same day. Pepe Guardiola is expected to use this match to test new signing David Villa. Although Barcelona are tipped as hot favourites, Milan cannot be underestimated especially since they have in Ronaldinho a player who knows the Nou Camp pitch like the back of his hand. This will be a perfect warm up to the season.
