AS Roma capitalised on Inter’s slip up to move up to first place in the Serie A on Sunday. The Giallorosso who had a rather easy fixture against Atalanta now lead the table with 68 points. If there is any team that truly deserves to be on top of the league then it has to Roma.
I must admit, if you told me that Roma were potential title challengers at the beginning of the year, i would have laughed my head off. That was about how bad they were fairing in the league. However, Claudio Ranieri’s boys seem to have cracked the code on how to mount up a successful Serie A campaign and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out.
Consistency is the name of the game. The Giallorosso have been the most consistent team in the league this season. Pundits now claim that this is a two horse race a statement i out rightly refute. Although 4 points off the pace, Milan still have an outside chance of winning the title. Anything can happen in the remaining 5 league games that can see neither Inter nor Roma lifting the trophy.
Inter Milan on the other hand have to pick themselves up from their minor set back and focus on their upcoming fixtures against Fiorentina, Juventus and Barcelona. The Nerazzurri were cruising in the league until about two months ago when the waves started beating hard on their boats. A series of draws left Inter leading the table by just a single point. Now the worst has happened and Jose Mourinho’s team has been pipped to first place by Roma.
This title race is anyone’s to win but i put my money on Milan to spring a surprise.
