Roma Slip up

With 3 games left to play defending champions Inter Milan are on course to win a record 5th successive scudetto this after their nearest challengers AS Roma succumbed to a 2-1 defeat  to Sampdoria on Sunday. This should bring to an end a very entertaining season such like we have never seen in a long time. Milan, Roma and Juventus now have to lick their wounds and set their sights on the next season.

After staging a remarkable come back that had everyone thinking that they would be the team to end Inter’s dominant reign, Claudio Ranieri’s boys  received a major setback on Sunday when Giampolo Pazzini struck twice to cancel out Francesco totti’s 14 minute opener. This loss comes at a very crucial time in the league and it will be very hard for Roma to recover. Anyone who still believes that the Giallorosso can win the league is in denial.

Coming into this game on the back of a 6 game winning streak, the odds were definitely against Sampdoria and many did not expect such a scoreline. Things don’t get any easier for the Giallorosso as next weekend they travel to the Stadio Renzo Barbera on the island  of Sicily to face Palermo. On course for 3 trophies, Inter Milan face Lazio and Roma will be hoping that their city neighbours can do them a favour and beat the Nerazzurri.

I do not see Inter losing their lead and maybe Roma should shift their focus to the Coppa Italia and end their season with some silverware.
