So there were some very interesting results around Europe this weekend with the major stories making the headlines being Inter’s 4-0 loss to Roma in the Serie A and Chelsea’s surprising 3-3 draw at home with United.
Coming off the back of 3 poor results, Inter desperately needed a win to ensure they broke into the top 4 spot., however, a 13 minute goal by Juan set the ball rolling for the capital club who were looking to pick up their first win in three outings.
Inter Captain Javier Zanetti’s post match remarks say it all:
“I think this was Inter’s worst performance since the start of the season, regardless of the fact that Roma played very well and deserved to win, we did not even turn up, it was a mass blackout, but we have to try and remain concentrated for Sunday’s game because we can’t repeat a performance like today’s. Roma deserve full credit. They kept hold of the ball well and were able to pass their way out of defence and that’s when we started struggling.”
However, the good news for Inter is that table toppers Juventus and Milan were both held to barren draws so the Nerazzurri still have an outside chance of causing one of the biggest upsets in recent Italian football history by stealing the title from favourites Juve and Milan.
For City rivals Milan it was another bad result for them after they lost to lazio 2-0 last weekend. To cap it all up, Milan had striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent off for slapping Napoli defender Salvatore.
This latest setback is raising questions whether Milan really have what it takes to beat the big guns in the league. After losing to Juventus, Inter and Lazio, if the Rossoneri win would they rightfully deserve it?
