Roma Crushed By Palermo

Just when things had started looking up for capital club AS Roma, they suffer another terrible defeat. The Giallorossi were 3-1 losers on Sunday after Palermo ended their brief meteoric rise in the Serie A.

Roma remain 7th in the league with 22 points. Speaking to reporters after the match, Roma defender Philippe Mexes admitted that his side lacked team work. Earlier in the week, Roma beat German champions 3-2 in a Champions League fixture at the Olimpic Stadium in Rome.

Many believed that this victory would further motivate the Romans in their league fixtures. Sadly, this was not to be. Claudio Ranieri now finds himself at pains to explain where it all went wrong for the Giallorossi.Mexes on the other hand still believes that Roma have a chance to challenge for the scudetto.

“We had a good first-half, even if we conceded a goal and lost a little bit of confidence,”

“In the second-half, we got everything wrong, but now we must hold our head high and continue to move forward.

“The results suggest that away from home, we suffer a lot, but we will look to resolve this as soon as possible because it is not by choice. We will not give up, but do our best.

“We know that things went bad tonight, but they will be better next time,”

Next time will be against Chievo. Although not a traditionally strong team, Roma should be very careful when they meet at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Dec 4th. Chievo beat Inter 2-1 in the same venue a little over a week ago and the belief is that if they can do it once, then they are capable of doing twice.

Meanwhile, Inter returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-2 drubbing of Parma. The win lets the pressure of coach Rafa Benitez and will go a long way to prepare the Nerazzurri for their crunch fixture against Lazio on Saturday.
