Brazil and AC Milan striker Robinho is confident that his side has what it takes for them to win the Champions League and Serie A this season. Robinho who recently returned from a lengthy injury lay off by scoring a goal in their 3-0 win over Palermo, was speaking to Sky Sport Italia.
Milan are one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Champions League winning the tournament 7 times; only 2 short of Real Madrid. Their recent form in tournament as well as the league have not been very convincing.
Despite winning the Serie A last season, Milan have never really looked like the team of old. They have struggled to make their presence felt in Europe and it was only after fan disquiet did the club give into the to buying new players.
That said, Robinho remains confident that the Rossonerri is a team to look out for.
“There are many teams in Italy who are difficult to beat,” Robinho said
“But, with all due respect, if we play with the same hunger as last season, we can win another league title.
“I do not know if we are stronger, but it is clear we are strong. This is just the beginning of the league, there are many matches left and we have to continue doing what we did against Palermo.”
Milan’s 2-2 draw away to Barcelona in their opening Group H fixture seemed to boost the club’s confidence that this could be their year. The Rossoneri face BATE Borisov tomorrow knowing that a win could seal their progression to the next round.
“When Milan play, there is not a main goal,”
“Looking at the quality of our squad, I think we can win the Scudetto and the Champions League.
“I know it will not be easy, but our dream is to win everything.”
With Pato still out injured, Allegri is expected to start With Ibrahimovic, Cassano and Robinho in attack. With confidence levels sky rocketing, many expect a win from Milan. However, like they say, this is football and no result is guaranteed.
