Milan moved back into second place after beating Napoli 2-1 at the San Paolo thanks to goals from Robinho and Ibrahimovic. The Rossoneri are now 2 points behind leaders Lazio and 2 clear of arch rivals Inter Milan.
Without regular starters Ronaldinho, Seedorf and Gatusso, Milan looked like a rejuvenated side. Ibrahimovic again had a good performance displaying flashes of brilliance, however the lack of communication with team mate Pato could be a major reason for concern as they prepare to host Juventus at the San Siro this Saturday.
Robinho grabbed his second goal of the season in only as many starts to give coach Massimiliano Allegri something to ponder about. Speaking to Skysports after the match, Robinho expressed delight with Milan’s performance.
“It was a tough match, but they are three very important points,” Robinho told Sky Sport post-match. “I was played as a support striker, and am pleased I got a chance to start.
Meanwhile, Milan’s opponents this weekend will be without influential player Amauri. The Juventus forward picked up an injury in the Bianconeri’s barren draw with Bologna on Sunday.
Amauri came off mid way through the first half after injuring his right Achilles tendon and is said to be out of action for two weeks at most. This should give Milan an edge over their fierce rivals when thy meet at the San Siro.
Many have tipped Milan to win the Scudetto this season after they acquired star players Ibrahimovic and Robinho. With Dinho expected back in the team for his crunch match, Juve will have to be at their best if they are to emerge with a result from the San Siro.
