Real Still Oh-So Close

IMG_3179

Real Madrid must like near-coronaries because they needed a last minute shot from Cristiano Ronaldo to defeat Osasuna 3-2.

The problem with this–for me–is that they gave two goals to Osasuna.  I’m not sure how they expect to keep pace with Barca for two more weeks giving goals to inferior teams.  They only have two matches left and they somehow have to figure out how to make every minute count and hope that Barca stumbles.

As Barca approaches the end of the season they are no longer in the Champs League and they only have to stay in front of Madrid–there’s no catching to do.  They have Sevilla, Tenerife, and Valladolid left–should be easy wins even though Sevilla isn’t dead–they’re just playing dead right now.

However, Real Madrid has 3 equally simple matches and I can only imagine that somebody is going to stumble.  I know I’ve been harping on Madrid all season, but if they were to “crumble” as I predicted earlier in the season it would be here against a team they are supposed to beat.

Do I think they will crumble?  I don’t know anymore.  They’re best player–and most selfish–won the match for them yesterday, but that doesn’t mean he can be on point all the time.  It still seems like the rest of the team is just waiting for him to do something.

Perhaps he’s selfish because he has to be?  I don’t know–it’s all very strange.

All Leo Messi has to do in Barcelona is to keep his team on course.  They win out and they’re in.  It’s that simple.  You want a trophy this season–then don’t lose a match between now and the end of the season.  I know that’s easier said than done with 270 minutes of Soccer left to play, but they signed up for this–so they can handle it.

Barca will probably win out in a nail-biter–unless they make it a nail-biter before the last weekend of the season.
