It was rumored that Real Madrid were in the market for another left-winger and Tottenham’s Gareth Bale was in their sights. With the Wales starlet currently enjoying a strong season for the Spurs, it could have been very possible that a switch to Bernabeu could have been on the agenda.
Unfortunately, rumors of the possible switch came to an end after Madrid boss, Jose Moruinho, went on to deny the claims
“Madrid [is] constantly being linked with this player and that player but I want to say that I do not want another left winger. Marcelo now has offensive quality and defensively he is growing. I didn’t like anything about Marcelo when I arrived because I thought he could do everything but defend but now I am a lover of his.”
Although I’m not sure what Mourinho may see in Marcelo, I’m not going to start questioning what his plans are with the club. I definitely thought that Marcelo may have been replaced after the arrival of Mourinho but it seems that the Brazilian winger may have shown glimpses of improvement that could see him take an active role with the club.
