Raul Gonzales Real Madrid’s all time leading goal scorer is more than certain to join MLS outfit NY Red Bulls in the summer. The Madrid legend who has been at the club since he was a teenager has fallen out of favour with coach Manuel Pellegrini since the arrival of Bezema, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Raul is eager to play in America and the Red Bulls are prepared to meet the weekly wages Real pay him. However, for Raul to leave Madrid, something must be really wrong. Although currently struggling for a place in the first team, Real are not about to let their golden child walk out of their gates.
At only 32, Raul has won everything that there is to win in club football and he has shattered records while doing that. He has endeared himself to his fans and he has become the darling of the Madrid folk. The Red Bulls are on record saying that they are trying to build a spectacular sporting project similar to what Madrid did this past summer.
On their list of players, they intend to sign another legend Paolo Maldini and Barcelona’s Thierry Henry. Maldini who was Milan’s skipper until last season, played for Milan for a record 23 years! This is what Raul should do. He stands to gain many more fans if he chooses to retire with the club that moulded him into one of the world’s lethalest strikers. He should follow in the footsteps of Maldini and end his career with Los Merengues.
