Ranocchia To Miss Milan Derby?

An interesting scenario set to occur in the upcoming Milan Derby as when the Rossoneri will likely have their attacking department depleted with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s suspension and Pato’s doubtful condition, Inter are in the brink of having a weaker defense for that big match. After Lucio got suspended for the tie, the Nerazzurri is also in danger of losing another important defender, Andrea Ranocchia, who picked up a knee injury during the Italian national team preparation for the Euro qualifying match against Slovenia.

The latest reports stated that the player has already left the Azzurri’s training ground and return to received more intensive treatment at his club as his knee is badly inflamed and might need an operation to recover. Although admitting that his injury is serious, the player himself still hopes that he can make the derby and won’t need an operation because it could pretty much end his season considering the recovery time needed after having a surgery.

“The knee is quite inflamed and I hope I won’t have to undergo another operation.I also hope to be available for the derby on April 2. The situation got worse after the first leg of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.” Ranocchia explained.

Despite hoping for a quicker recovery, rumors predict that at the even if Ranocchia won’t need a surgery, there’s a big chance he also won’t be able to fulfill his wish in playing in the Derby since the problem on his knee is very chronic. With the current situation even an operation would be the best scenario for the young defender to completely recover from the injury as if the knee is not fully treated things can always get worse in the future.

Should Ranocchia missed the Derby, Inter’s supposedly “advantage” in the Derby could be diminished as having their recent two main center backs absent isn’t actually a good scenario even Milan could also missed two main strikers. However, looking at the injury status, it’s possible Pato might make it for the Rossoneri and with the news about Andrea Pirlo and Filippo Inzaghi’s recovery, things might turned things for the Red and Black squad.

Although both teams are equally the same, some people are favoring Inter at the moment simply because Milan have been getting bad results in their last two matches while the Nerazzurri managed to cut down the gap into just two points. However, looking at the performances it’s very safe to say that both teams haven’t actually been playing good in their last two games, but surely the suspension to Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been dubbed as the main loss for the Rossoneri in the upcoming Derby.

Now with the possibility of losing their best center back pairing, the Derby surely will turn out to be a much more intriguing and exciting battle as Inter can’t really say they have a technical advantage over Milan. However, the Rossoneri should also be careful in digesting the injury issue about Inter players as in the past few weeks, the Nerazzurri seemed doing this simply to surprise their enemies, that’s why the possibility of Ranocchia making his way back for the derby is always possible.
