Pirlo, Staying or Leaving Milan ?

PirloFor years, Andrea Pirlo has been an instrumental part of the Ac Milan’s midfield his unique playing style which somehow invented the deep lying playmaker term into footballing territory has pretty much introduced the meaning of players with his characteristic.

Having already served his club for years, the player could be in the verge of ending his adventure with the Rossoneri as with his expiring contract hasn’t been renewed, reports claimed that hosts of clubs are lining up to capture the midfield dynamo.

Italian paper, La Gazzetta Dello Sport, suggested that big clubs such as Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Inter Milan are interested in signing the veteran playmaker especially if he’s going to be a free agent in the summer. The Italian paper reported that the Rossoneri’s vice president, Adriano Galliani, isn’t in a hurry in negotiating any renewal and content to wait until April which could opens up the chance for other clubs in starting to lure him away from Via Turatti.

Financially, Pirlo’s contract renewal might resulted in a tricky business for Milan in which why they seem content in waiting until the season ends before deciding anything as the board probably want to see how the player would perform this season and what’s the club’s status before the summer. The 5 million Euro wages is surely a big number that the club is currently considering as if they extend, if the Rossoneri are planning to extend, the would ask the 31-years-old player to cut out his wages as it’s the current policy the club’s having.

This kind of policy worked for Milan in negotiating about Massimo Oddo and Gianluca Zambrotta’s contract earlier this season, however not all player are interested in this method as rumors suggested that this plan is one of the reason Ronaldinho finally move to Flamengo in the start on the 2011 year. Surely, it will also depend on what would Pirlo can get if he moves from the Rossoneri and chose another club, should he feels that other offer is interesting enough the chance of the player leaving Via Turatti is always possible.

Surely losing Pirlo is a delicate situation as his presence in the Rossoneri’s midfield has somehow effected Milan’s playing style towards the years, especially considering the fact the Milan’s 2000 era was build under Carlo Ancelotti’s regime which invented the 31-years-old new position. Having become a source of creativity in the red and black squad for many years, the playmaker seems to regress his form especially after the 2006 World Cup as he pretty much has won lots of thing there is to won.

The image and quality of Pirlo so far hasn’t been passed away to any Milan’s current midfielder which mean should the Rossoneri were to lose him, they might be searching for a player with potentially similar quality or changing the midfield playing style a bit. Although the current coach, Massimiliano Allegri, has already tweaked the team’s playing style this season, the necessity of a creative player in the midfield is much needed for the team. However, with a very delicate situation, the possibility of renewing Pirlo’s remain an intriguing question that can only be answered in the net few months, as the achievement that Milan have this season might be the key for the veteran playmaker’s future.
