There is nothing worse than having to write about the losses your beloved team endures. Fortunately for me though, the club i keenly follow is having their best start to their season in close to 6 years and No, i won’t tell you which team it is.
Anyway, Real Madrid got back to winning ways on Saturday when they beat Valencia 2-0 to remain in second position in the La Liga standings. Los Blancos might be coping well after their humiliating 5-0 loss to Barcelona earlier last week however, one man is still nursing the sour wounds inflicted by the Catalans.
Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s President admitted that Monday’s loss was the worst ever in the club’s history. We all know Mr.Perez was the brains behind Real’s ‘spectacular sporting project’ that brought the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka to the Bernabeu.
Now, the Real chief is rebuilding his pride after a humbling loss. Awful and Bad were the adjectives Mr. Perez used to describe last Monday’s experience.
“It was the worst game in the history of Real Madrid,”
“It was a very bad match, awful, but we had been successful in the 19 games prior to it. There is not the slightest doubt that we have the right coach.”
With Madrid losing the services of striker Gonzalo Higuain who is set to go for surgery in the coming days, Mr. Perez acknowledged that Madrid will be going into the winter transfer season with renewed purpose.
“We must go to the winter market; we need a couple of signings to strengthen the team. Regardless of whether or not [Gonzalo] Higuain goes under the knife, we need a new striker and maybe a central midfielder.
Mourinho was right and the first big test of the season has demonstrated our shortcomings.”
