Palermo’s Pastore Has Big Fans In Spain

Twenty one year old Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore is still fairly new to professional football, but the Palermo man is already desired by some of the best clubs in the world. Pastore, a World Cup Argentina national team representative this summer, is widely considered one of the best young playmakers in any major European football league and the young sensation has four goals this season for his Serie A side in only 8 matches.

Several times in the last six months it has been reported that Pastore might be heading over to a big team in Spain. Some believe Real Madrid will look to sign the young star while others believe that Pastore will replace Barcelona’s desire for Cesc Fabregas. Regardless of where Pastore ends up, it appears that he is wanted by powerhouse big spenders and that likely means that his days at Palermo are numbered.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini told Gr Parlamento that no official offer has been made for the twenty one year old, but the official suggested that the player was worth way more then his current market value:

There has been no official offer from anyone, just a semi-official one from a Spanish club for about €25 million. There has been nothing from Italy though. But, as I have said before, Pastore is priceless because he is not for sale. However, I do realise that keeping him here with us will not be easy and I think he’s worth around €60 million. He is one of the best players in the world and is somebody who one day will win the Golden Ball.

One good piece of news for Palermo fans is that Pastore doesn’t seem star struck by the opportunity of going to Spain at the moment and the young Rosanero star stressed growing with his current club at the moment rather then considering leaving the Italian squad.

Pastore told La Repubblica:

My future? I am well at Palermo and I don’t think about anything else. The team is always growing and I am growing with the team. I don’t see any reason as to why I should leave.
