Little is known about Naples based club Napoli. With such a strong footballing tradition, Napoli are somewhat considered perennial under-achievers in the Serie A.
The two time Serie A champions have also remain largely quiet in the summer transfer season. Finishing 6th in the league last season. Napoli are looking to consolidate their performance by acquiring Bayern Munich midfiedler Jose Sosa.
The club was evidently made famous by one of the World’s greatest players Diego Maradona and this is probably the major reason why many including myself can identify with the it.
News out of Naples should be welcome for all their fans as club president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed that Sosa would soon be joining the Partenopei. Napoli are ready to pay Munich 3 million Euros to land the 25 year old.
Napoli is one of the few Serie A clubs that usually starts the season strongly before experiencing a bad run midway through the year and then ultimately finishing strongly. The other being Fiorentina.
Speaking to Corrie dello Sport, Laurentiis had this to say.
“Jose Sosa would be the right man for us. He has the perfect age and could really add something to the team.”
A lot should be expected from Napoli this season if the confidence that Laurentiis portrays is anything to go by. Some notable players to keep an eye on include: Marek Hamsik, Fabio Quagliarella, Ezekiel Lavezzi and their new signing Edison Cavani.
