Napoli Grabbed Italian Cup Final Ticket After Beating Siena

Napoli vs ChelseaNapoli booked a date with Juventus in the Italian Cup final after the Partenopei beat Siena 2-0 in the second leg of the competition on Wednesday, a result which gives them a 3-2 win on aggregate.

The result will pretty much remedy their failure in advancing from the Champions League second round few weeks ago as now they have a genuine shot in ending the season with a trophy.

Losing 2-1 in the first meeting, Napoli were simply determined to get the victory at home as they attack right from the start with their three tenors, Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and also Edinson Cavani leading the line. Having all of their players playing from the start, it didn’t take long for the Partenopei to take the lead against their visitor, as Simone Vergasolla deflected Lavezzi’s free kick which ended up in Siena’s net instead.

The goal spurred the home team into adding more goals which will secure their path to the final and despite the visitor’s resilience, the Partenopei did grabbed their second in the 30th minute through Cavani’s header after receiving a cross from Hamsik. Leading two goals up seemed to caught Napoli off guard a little bit, especially after the break, when Siena started to go forward more, aiming for at least a goal which could pushed the match into extra time.

Siena’s attacking effort did caused several problems for Napoli, but they hold on until the end despite some pretty late scarce in the final few minutes when the visitor were simply pouring the Partenopei’s defense. The victory means a lot for the Azzurri as they have a chance to mark their improvement with a trophy, something that hasn’t really happened since around 15 years now, it won’t be an easy task but doable indeed.
