Napoli pick up their second consecutive win after last weekend’s success against Novara and move inch closer to third after successfully beating Lecce 2-0 at Via Del Marre, with goals from Marek Hamsik along with Edinson Cavani.
This result could spur the Partenopei on for the remaining few games in Serie A, as they could now be the strongest candidate in grabbing the final third spot, considering Lazio’s inconsistent form.
Signs of Napoli’s success were pretty imminent on the match as after only five minutes, Mazzarri’s team already managed to take the lead when Hamsik’s screamer stormed through Lecce’s net. That goal marked the visitor’s dominance as they created several more chances, until the home team’s tactician, Serse Cosmi, altered things a bit, which helped his team finally causing some problems for the Partenopei.
However, the Partenopei pretty much ended Lecce’s effort after picking up their second goal early from the second half when Cavani puts his angled drive easily passed Bennasi. That goal pretty much made things difficult for the home team as Napoli simply controlled the match once again and could’ve added to their lead but the 2-0 lead was more than enough for Mazzarri’s squad.
The only negative aspect from the match for the Partenepoi is probably the injury for Hugo Campagnaro which forced him to be substituted after around an hour in the game. Aside from Campagnaro’s muscle problem, Mazzarri’s squad simply strolled through their second consecutive win as they gets inch closer with their targeted third place position.
