What Mourinho wants, he gets. Reports emerging suggest that Mourinho will try to force out sporting Director Zinedine Zidane for his alleged involvement in first team affairs.
Zidane who was referred to Madrid as an advisor to then incoming president Florentino Perez three years ago, has seen his roles change eventually beingĀ named as the Sporting director at the season.
Mourinho who had requested for Zidane’s profile to be elevated is believed to not be satisfied with the Frenchman’s performance so far and now reports claim that Mourinho will force the icon out at the end of the season.
A Spanish journalist who spoke to Cadena SER was quoted as saying that Zidane ‘does nothing’.
“There are claims that he does nothing, there is not a word from him, no action,” he said.
“Mourinho was looking for someone to crack down against bad referees. He needs someone ‘worse’ than him.”
Of course, you have to remember that Madrid sacked their general manager Jorge Valdano after his relationship with the club’s coaching staff, Mourinho in particular reached unworkable leves.
Mourinho was the winning man then as his word to Perez left the President with no option other than sacking the 56 year old. It is this close relationship between the pair that could see Zidane and Madrid part company.
It would be a shame though for personal interest to influence such a decision. Meanwhile, despite the reports, Zidane has continued with his job. His latest foray was to the Ligue 1 where he went scouting for Madrid’s next best player.
With three games left to play, Montpelier still remain top of the league standings 6 points ahead of second place PSG who host St.Etienne tonight.
Zidane who was in France to watch Tuesday league encounter between Montpelier and Evian was on a scouting trip to watch Younes Belhanda. The 22 year old has been in impressive form this season. He was among the goal scorers in the 2-2 draw.
