Mourinho: Ronaldo’s Hat-Trick Is Normal

With Rivals Barcelona out in Japan taking part in the FIFA World Club Cup, Real Madrid took the opportunity last night to extend their lead a top the La Liga standings with an emphatic 6-2 win over Sevilla.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 20 goals with Messi 3 goals behind him. Speaking after the match, an elated Mourinho said that a win was necessary for the club as he did not like sharing top spot.

“I expected a win and become the leader alone,” Mourinho said.

“The main thing was to win again and we succeeded against a difficult opponent. If I said the other day we were league leaders, now I can say that we are leaders alone.

“We have been very effective and better than the opponent, but the truth is that the result reflects the difference between the two teams. We deserved to win.”

On Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick, the Portuguese tactician called it something normal. Truth be told, this is one reason, i like Mourinho, his arrogance is backed by a confidence that rarely fails him.

“Cristiano’s performance for me is normal. It is normal to play as he has, to score the goals he has scored and help your team,” he said.

“It is also normal in the previous game that he didn’t score [against Barcelona].”

Very few coaches can actually put their money where their mouth is and this is what separates Jose from the rest. It will be amazing to see who actually walks away with the coach of the year award.

With rivals Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola also in the running the award, competition is indeed stiff. Meanwhile, Mourinho took the time to applaud Real’s Argentine star Angel Di Maria who is bereaved.

The 23 year old footballer lost his father-in-law early last week and is due to return to his home country to pay his respects.
